Yee Haw from the MPS Reading Ranch!

In the library this year, our theme is the Old West! Cowboys (and cowgirls) rule! We have outdone ourselves with decorating. Lots of hours were spent finding cowboy ideas, shopping for bargains and creating a western wonderland.
Here are some of the visuals from our library that inspire our little cowpokes to come in and READ!

I can't even tell you how much brown paper this took! And how long it took to hang it! Saw the idea on Pinterest and couldn't get it out of my head, so this is our ranch entrance. We will likely leave it up most of the school year, adding holiday or seasonal decor to it. The wagon wheel is made using a hula-hoop, some foam pipe cover and some dowel rods. Found the boots at Goodwill for $3.00 AND, they happen to be my size!

The prize matchine,  (a cheap find on the app,
OfferUp) is filled with prize capsules that include cowboy erasers, temporary western-themed tattoos, bandana-print wrapped mints and stretchy horses. Students won a crank of the machine by filling out a cowboy reading bingo game card.
Yup, we have a "real" jail for all the outlaws who
wander into the library. The kids loved having their
pictures taken  in the cell. We made it out of the
"cool reads" refrigerator that we made a few years
back. It needed to be recycled and the jail was the
perfect thing! We took every student's photo
and hung them on their lockers.
